Extension and Internal Remodelling
Planning Approval Granted January 2021
The project Bantry House relates to the extension and internal remodelling of an existing early 20C dwelling in Newby, Scarborough.
The proposed extension is conceived as a simple, contemporary, architectural addition in juxtaposition with the existing traditional Edwardian dwelling.
Externally, the low level, flat roof, form of extension, together with the use of lightweight timber cladding, reinforces the understanding of the existing dwelling as the primary architectural form on the site.
Internally, the new extension provides a more open plan arrangement of the key social spaces within the dwelling to cater for modern day-to-day family life, while establishing a direct visual connection between the dwelling and the garden to the rear of the property.
